Ein Traum!

Wir waren 6 Tage im Villa Dio Petres, es hat uns sehr gut gefallen, ein Ort der Ruhe, schönes Zimmer, tolle Aussicht und zwei wundervolle, sehr aufmerksame Gastgeber Jacques und Hans , unterstützt von der lieben Efi . Wir haben von hier Ausflüge in alle Richtungen gemacht oder auch den Strand besucht. Im Nachbarort , 300 m zu Fuß, gibt es eine authentische, nette Taverne mit sehr leckerem Essen. Beim nächsten Besuch von Kreta kommen wir gerne wieder!

Une vue incroyable de toutes les chambres, la proximité du village qui permet d’aller dîner à pied, dans la montagne mais la mer a quelques kilomètres, de beaux villages alentour… Mais le plus important, ce qui fait le séjour inoubliable ce sont les hôtes Hans et Jacques qui ont imaginé et font de cet endroit très spécial un lieu si attachant.

De royale ruimte en de bijzonder smakelijke inrichting van binnen- en buitenruimte. Het uitzicht is meer dan fantastisch. Twee gastheren die tot in de puntjes verzorgen en de omgeving zo goed kennen dat zij tips en tricks hebben buiten de gangbare reisgidsen. Het dorp Kroustas ligt op een steenworp afstand en is gezegend met twee goede eetgelegenheden.

Verwachtingen overtroffen

Op advies van onze zus/schoonzus kwamen wij terecht bij Villa Dio Petres. Het overtrof onze verwachtingen. Hans en Jacques zijn geweldige gastheren die ‘garant’ staan voor een geweldig verblijf op Kreta en in Villa Dio Petres. Naast het verblijf in een comfortabele frisse goed geoutilleerde kamer met prachtig uitzicht voorzien Jacques en Hans je, op verzoek, van diverse informatie over het prachtige cultuurrijke Kreta. Wij hebben genoten en genieten nog na van een heerlijke vakantie in Villa Dio Petres van 27 mei tot 7 juni 2023.

I would go back. Awesome view and comfortable.

Awesome place and really friendly hosts. If you are looking for a calm place a little away from centre yet only 20 min to Agios Nicolaus then this is it. Fantastic value for money. Also good restaurants nearby for dinner. If you want centre of town and wild parties next to the beach, then this is probably not for you even so I would still recommend it :) In short: - Clean - Helpful and caring hosts - Awesome view with comfortable semi-private terrace.

Mooie kamers met uitzicht op de zee. Alles ziet er precies zo goed uit als op de foto's. Vriendelijke en behulpzame gastheer Hans. Vers bereid ontbijt kan je krijgen tegen een meerprijs. Probeer dan zeker de heerlike Griekse yoghourt met honing.In Kroustas zijn op wandelafstand een 3tal restaurants, wij hebben elke avond in Xatheri gegeten omdat je daar het gezelligste terras hebt (en het eten was goedkoop en lekker). In de buurt zijn er verschillende wandelingen. De Kritsa kloof moet je zeker eens lopen. Doordat je zo dicht bij Kritsa bent, kan je dit commerciele dorpje eenvoudig bezoeken wanneer de toeristen meute terug op hotel aan de kust zit. Ook Agios Nikolaos is best de moeite om een paar uurtjes door te slenteren. Een auto is wel noodzakelijk om de buurt te verkennen. Rij zeker eens over de goed geasfalteerde haarspeldenbochtbaan van Kritsa naar Katharo. Villa dio petres is echt een top locatie in deze regio van Kreta voor wie het liever wat rustiger heeft. Je kan overigens rechtstreeks reserveren als je daar de voorkeur aan geeft.

Herrliche Aussicht auf das Tal Richtung Agios Nikolaos

Wir hatten für 4 Tage das Panoramazimmer gebucht und hatten eine herrliche Aussicht, sowohl vom Zimmer, als auch von der Terrasse. Die Unterkunft ist herrlich in ca. 400m Höhe ca. 3,5 km vom Ort Kritsa und ca. 1 km vom Ort Kroustas entfernt gelegen. Die beiden Gastgeber Hans und Jaques sind ganz liebevolle und zuvorkommende Gastgeber und machen den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich für einen. Die Unterkunft ist in einem neuwertigen Zustand und alles ist neuwertig und gut aufeinander abgestimmt, auch die Möblierung. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Das Auto kann ohne Probleme oberhalb der Unterkunft an der ruhigen Straße geparkt werden. Bitte nicht runterfahren! Der Frühstücksraum ist ebenfalls mit einer herrlichen Aussicht ausgestattet und bietet ein reichhaltiges Frühstück für 8,50 EUR pro Person. Agios Nikolaos ist übrigens nur ca. 20 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt.

Can only recommend the stay!

The views over Mirabello Bay are breath-taking. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villa with two super charming hosts who gave us great recommendations and even helped us out when our rental car didn‘t start in the middle of nowhere. The nearby town Kroustas is lovely and has an amazing tavern. Even in August temperatures there were very mild and just perfect. To Agios Nikolaos it’s just a quick car ride. Can only recommend the stay!

Top-notch

If you're looking for an authentic Cretan experience away from the beach, then look no further! This villa has gorgeous views of the rolling Cretan hills and the sea, the room & facilities are top-notch, and you can break your sense of isolation with a short walk to the neighbouring village. The hosts - a couple of Dutch organizers of philosophy courses, no less - are absolutely wonderful. We will stay longer the next time for sure.
If you're doing a beach-type holiday, bear in mind that this property is a good half an hour away from the nearest beach by car, so it doesn't lend itself well to frequent trips.

Ein Perfekter Ort!!

Ankommen und wohlfühlen. Eine Aussicht die Magisch ist .
Der Blick auf Kritsa, auf das Meer, auf tausenden von Olivenbäumen.
Den Sonnenaufgang. Die Ruhe, die man dort spürt.
Der Ort Kroustas, in unmittelbarer Nähe, der einfach nur wunderschön und authentisch ist.
Aber richtig Perfekt macht es aber erst ihr …..Hans und Jacques …..mit eurer Gastfreundschaft, eurer freundlichen liebevollen Art. Efcharistó pára polý oder Heel erg bedankt ;)

Liebevolles, modernes Hotel fernab vom Massentourismus mit malerischem Blick auf die Berge.

Wir haben zuvor mit einem Mietwagen 14 Tage lang die Insel bereist und uns letztlich für die Villa Dio Petres als Erholungs- und Rückzugsort entschieden. Die Zimmer sind sehr modern, qualitativ-hochwertig und liebevoll eingerichtet, tadellos sauber und die Terrasse bietet einen malerischen Ausblick auf die Berge und das Bergdorf Kritsa. Das Frühstück wurde jeden morgen frisch zubereitet. Kaffee wurde ohne nachzufragen mehrmals aufgefüllt. Das Hotel hat unsere Erwartungen bei weitem übertroffen und eignet sich sehr gut, um zu entspannen. Ebenfalls ist es möglich, alle weiteren Ziele im Osten Kretas (Agios Nikolaos, Vai, Crissi, Lasithi-Hochebene,...) von hieraus zu bereisen. Sowohl Sterneliebhaber, Sonnenaufgangsfanatiker, Langschläfer als auch Wanderlustige und Naturliebhaber kommen fernab vom Massentourismus hier auf ihren Genuss. Die Bergluft ist sehr erfrischend und lässt die Hitze besser ertragen. Hans und Jacques waren immer für ein authentisches Gespräch offen und gaben uns viele wertvolle Tipps, um das Kretanische Leben hautnah zu erleben. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

A perfect stay!

Villa Dio Petres is an exceptional place to stay and enjoy your holidays. Located in a breathtaking spot, the hotel is perfect for a refreshing and calm stay. The owners, Hans and Jacob, are very kind and make you feel at home. Breakfast is superb prepared with traditional products, the view is amazing and the rooms are very comfortable and really clean. My wife Alexandra and our little daughter Olia stayed there for 9 days in August 2019 and can’t wait to get back!!!

A romantic night

Приехали на одну ночь на романтик. Очень радушные хозяева встретили нас поздно ночью бутылочкой ракии и фруктами. В нашем номере была огромная Терраса, с которой открывается великолепный вид, особенно на восходы. Советую всем заставить себя проснуться в 6 утра и встретить фантастический рассвет. Все в номере продумано до мелочей, очень удобно красиво и со вкусом, хоть и просто. Завтрак приготовили нам великолепный. Лучший отдых в горах в тишине. Рядом прекрасная таверна!

La literie est absolument parfaite

Les hôtes d'une très grande sympathie tiennent une villa magnifique avec une vue permettant un grand calme et une belle prise de recul. Située à Kroustas, il y a 100 m au dessus une très bonne taverne dans un village authentique. Pour ne rien gâcher, la literie est absolument parfaite !

Herzliches Willkommen. Sehr nette und zuvorkommende Gastgeber, wir haben uns jederzeit willkommen und gut betreut gefühlt. Es waren die bequemsten Betten während unserer dreiwöchigen Kretareise, sowie ein richtiges Kinderbettchen- sehr komfortabel :-). Der Blick ist fantastisch, die Erholung setzt sofort ein.
Ein bisschen schade ist, dass es in Kroustas nur noch die beiden Tavernen gibt

La ubicación es perfecta

La ubicación es perfecta, está a 15 minutos en coche de Agios Nikolaos, pero en un enclave único con unas vistas increíbles, merece la pena madrugar para ver amanecer desde el balcón. Hans y Jaques son unos buenos anfitriones siempre dispuestos y amables. Las habitaciones están muy limpias y equipadas.

Total rest and relaxation!

The hosts were so lovely and welcoming. They made us feel like guests in their own home. The room/bathroom was immaculately clean, the beds and bedding exceptionally comfortable and the Air Con was silent. The real wow factor however is the view, which is breathtaking! The neighbouring village gives you a real slice of local Cretan life. We’ll be back.

Memorable stay

The view was spectacular and the place was very quiet. The hosts were excellent and gave us very good advice on things to eat and see. We stayed at the double bedroom appartment and it was extremely clean and gets cleaned daily. The villa is between two traditional villages with tavernas serving excellent local food.

Highly recommended

The owners Jacques and Hans are simply super friendly, they help, suggest and support your requests! The location is very quiet and convenient for getting to the beaches and other interesting places. The bed is very comfortable and the general cleanliness of the room is very good. Large terrace where you can enjoy the sunrise. Appreciated the cooling system based on the heat pump, which allows a very low noise at night. Highly recommended.

Un havre de paix au coeur de la nature, avec un somptueux panorama sur le golfe de Mirambellou. A place to visit to stock up on happy memories
One day at Villa Dio Petres only, but what a memorable stay! I happened to be the only guest and felt very lucky and privileged. The location is unbeatable for splendid views, Kroustas is a little gem of a village, and the lovely rooms and terraces alone are enough to win the highest praise, but it is the personality of the hosts that makes the place truly special. Their ambition of achieving Eudaimonia - something more than happiness, a state where fulfillment, human flourishing and well-being blend - and sharing the experience with their guests is inspiring. Regrettably, I missed meeting Hans but Jacques extended a warm and friendly welcome on behalf of both of them. I appreciated the conversations we had and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent breakfast) Thank you so much, Jacques! I do wholeheartedly recommend Villa Dio Petres and hope to come over again. On top of everything else, the area around Kroustas and Kritsa offers excellent opportunities for walking and the landscapes up in the mountains and around the plateau are breathtaking.

Paradise...

Charming small hotel, more like agritourism, in amazing location high in the mountains with excellent view of the vally and the Mirambelou golf. Very clean, very cosy, very good breakfast. The staff, Jacques and Hans, which are the owners and creators of this beautiful site, are very friendly and helpful. The dogs are cute. Sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine, watching the sunset is a real experience.

Een plaats om tot rust en zeker weer te komen !!

Genieten ten top !! We kregen een zeer warm onthaal en dat gevoel bleef de rest van ons verblijf!! Prachtige locatie en ligging ! Super ontbijt en zeer aangename muziek en prachtig uitzicht !! Jacques en Hans zijn twee prachtige zielen ! Een spiegel in de slaapkamer, eventueel op de kleerkastdeur, zou wel praktisch zijn.

Lieber Hans, lieber Jacques,

Nachdem wir seit Mittwoch wieder zu Hause sind und uns schon wieder eingelebt haben, möchten wir uns nochmal für die schöne Zeit bei Ihnen bedanken. Von Kroustas sind wir über eine sehr schöne Tour durch die Berge an die Küste und weiter nach Agia Galini gefahren. Das Dorf hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Auch das Familienhote fanden wir trotz vorheriger Skepsis nett. Anschließend ging es weiter nach Plakias. Der Ort ist für unseren Geschmack hässlich und viel zu touristisch. Für Ausflüge war er als Standort aber nicht so schlecht. Wr hatten auch ein Apartment außerhalb de Dorfes. Die letzten 3 Tage in Chania verbrachten wir in einem akzeptablen Apartment in der Altstadt und haben von dort aus den Westen der Insel erkundet und abends die Stadt besucht. Wir fanden Kreta wunderschön: sehr nette Menschen, beeindruckende Lanschaften, gutes Essen und vor allem die entspannte Stimmung. Vielleicht schaffen noch einmal den Weg zu Ihnen. Wir haben uns in der Villa Dio Petres sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir wünschen Ihnen alles Gute und viel Erfolg mit Ihrem schönen Haus. Liebe Grüße

Upea paikka luontoa ja rauhaa rakastaville. Maisemat ovat henkeäsalpaavan kauniit. Huoneiden terassilta aukeaa mahtava näköala. Huoneet ovat siistit, lämmitys/jäähdytys pelaa. Hollantilaiset isännät ovat kivoja. Lämpimästi suosittelen!

A lovely peaceful spot in a relatively unspoilt part of Crete.  

Lovely views of the mountains and bay from both balconies and woke up to birdsong- magical! We had the panorama room, which was on the ground floor and suitable for the disabled, but very spacious and light. The hosts were relaxed and friendly and gave us a wide choice of products for a lovely breakfast. You need a car as the building is a little way from the nearest village, Kroustas and a little bit further from the tourist village, Kritsa. Convenient spot for visiting the Lassithi plateau and Lato ruins. A good time to go if you want to see wildflowers.One of the balconies was accessible from the rest of the building, used for hiking and philosophy tours on some days, so we would have appreciated a partition of some sort. It was also rather a steep drive down to the property, so we opted to park at the top and walk down, which was slightly inconvenient, but worth it for the peace and quiet of the location!

Our sincere thanks

This is a really stunning new villa that Jacques and Hans have designed and built themselves, in a very peaceful location, enjoying spectacular views over the mountains and the sea. The villa its-self was spotless and the beds particularly comfortable. Breakfast was most enjoyable with choice of cereal, Greek yogurt, bread and jams, cheese and meats, egg and tea or coffee. (the freshly squeezed orange was a particular joy!).The Hosts could not have been more welcoming and helpful doing all they could to ensure our stay was peaceful and enjoyable. They were pleased to tell us about all the interesting and historic places to visit. (but were not at all intrusive). We particularly enjoyed the local sandy beach with safe swimming and a choice of 2 tavernas.
We would thoroughly recommend a holiday at Villa Dio Petres. It is rare indeed to find such peace and tranquility or indeed hosts that show such humanity and friendship. Our sincere thanks

Traumplatz im Gebirge

Dieses Haus sprengt den Rahmen eines Hotels, da es mehr eine Luxusvilla mit persönlicher Betreuung ist. Das Besitzerpaar, zwei äußerst freundliche und hilfsbereite Holländer, kümmert sich um selbst um kleinste Kleinigkeiten, setzt sich aber auch intensivste für Gäste ein. Wir erlebten das bei einem Paar, welches ebenfalls hier wohnte und bei dem der Mann schwer krank wurde.Die Hoteliers sorgten rundum für diese Gäste. Das Haus liegt mit grandiosem Ausblick Richtung Agios Nikolaus an einem Steilhang, neben einer best-ausgebauten Straße. Alles ist sehr neu, ganz modern und geschmackvoll auf höchstem Standard.

Best matress in Crete!

Wonderful view! Hans and Jaques are very kind host!! The best mattress where I slept in Crete!!!

Gelukzaligheid

Voor een korte vakantie zochten we op Kreta nabij Agios Nikolaos een bijzondere plek, weg van het toeristisch geweld aan de kust. Bij Villa Dio Petres op de route van het dorpje Kritsa naar Kroustas vonden we meer dan we ons konden wensen. Een gevoel van ‘tijdloze gelukzaligheid’!
Hemels uitzicht op aarde
Hoewel de indrukwekkende foto’s van de websites een tipje van de sluier doen oplichten van het panorama vanaf de splinternieuwe Villa Dio Petres, is het in het echt nog véél indrukwekkender. Het overweldigend imponerende wijde blikveld geeft je een gevoel van oneindigheid met zo’n 270 graden horizontaal en 200 graden verticaal. Verbijstering. Je wordt er stil van.
De fraaie Villa
Architect Jacques Poot en TV-producent/Beeldadviseur Hans Rutten hebben op deze locatie een hoogstandje gerealiseerd waarbij de nieuwe Villa prachtig in het landschap wordt opgenomen. De Villa wordt hoofd​zakelijk gebruikt als een klein conferentieoord voor filosofie-cursussen met bekende professoren(academieopkreta.nl), maar de kamers (4) worden tussendoor verhuurd als bed & breakfast. Elke kamer kent heerlijke bedden, heeft een terras met prachtig uitzicht en is geclassificeerd op 3 (van de 4) sleutels (de sterren van Griekenland). De kwaliteit/prijsverhouding is uitstekend. In de villa is geïnvesteerd in duurzame technische hoogstandjes die de kamers op aangename temperatuur houden. Dat zie je niet, maar dat merk je wel.
Het Grote Genieten
De beide initiatiefnemers en gastheren Jacques en Hans hebben hun sporen verdiend in de wereld van gastronomie, media en toerisme. Ze weten als geen ander de gasten het gevoel te geven zich hier in alle rust ‘in de wolken’ te voelen. Hans en Jacques maken het vertrouwd en persoonlijk en zullen er alles aan doen om het de gasten naar de zin te maken. Je krijgt niet gewoon een bed voor een nacht, maar een bijzondere, persoonlijke ervaring. Geen Hilton of Marriott, maar wel een meer dan hoog cijfer voor kwaliteit en gastvriendelijkheid. Evdaimonia oftewel Gelukzaligheid!

A découvrir sans attendre

Les chambres aménagées avec soin, avec une terrasse offrant un Panorama exceptionnel. Vue incroyable sur la baie. Accueil chaleureux. Village de Kroustas à 300 m typiquement crétois, loin de la foule. Tranquillité et authenticité du village avec tavernes typiques. Très bon rapport qualité/prix. Petit déjeuner inclus. Aménagement d'une zone ombragée sur la terrasse des chambres pour profiter du panorama dans la journée.

Unique destination

Magical, serene place. Great views over the olive trees valley and Merambelo gulf. Very interesting spots to visit nearby: historical sites,villages, nature. The place is ideal for "intellectual adventures" which is also the hosts point of view. To have a conversation with them is a pleasure. Owners are very kind and friendly, always willing to reveal the charm of this area. A unique destination...
